Oral history workshop
Oral history is a listening and question asking practice, which can be used for research, creative projects, and relationship building in your daily life. Oral history is guided by both aesthetics and ethics, rooted in the idea of generosity. In this workshop we will discuss the basic principles of oral history, practice listening and asking questions, and think together about how to sustain the emotional labor of deep listening. You bring your questions and curiosities about oral history - or maybe a project you think it might help you with - and you will leave with a framework for how to put these practices to work in your own life.
